SUMMARY:

The primary objective of the Construction Laborer is to complete general labor projects and tasks as assigned by the Construction Manager for Obie Companies.

REPORTING MANAGER:

The Construction Laborer reports to the Construction Manager for Obie Companies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Construction Laborer

  • Effectively assist in the execution of capital expenditures, tenant improvements, and other construction projects as assigned by Management. Projects may include but are not limited to: frame-to-finish carpentry, drywall, drywall taping, painting, demolition, light concrete, general clean up and material handling.
  • Ensure projects are done with a high-level attention to detail. Must be able to work both on a team and independently.
  • Assist the Construction Manager in coordinating construction workers and subcontractors hired on to Obie Projects.
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Assist the Construction Manager with internal and external reports pertaining to job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
  • Effectively build and maintain relationships with all external contracts, including (but not limited to) vendors, suppliers, contracted services, local authorities, local code officials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of construction carpentry experience including framing, flooring, millwork, general labor.

  • Experience with remodel and new build projects.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
  • High level of accuracy and pride in your craft
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must have the ability to operate an automobile. Must have a valid state approved driver’s license and clean driving record

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment and outdoors on job-sites. This role requires the employee to be in the office or on-site on a daily basis.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in/around construction site, apartment homes, models, and properties.
  • This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions (to include but limited to, rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, and sleet), around hazardous chemicals, dust, dirt, and other particulates.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 60 lbs. independently.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting.
  • To perform other duties as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
