Job Description
The Communications and Outreach Coordinator is part of the City Manager’s Office and
responsible for ensuring that City messaging is delivered in a timely and strategic manner to the
residents and businesses of South Burlington. This includes the development of informational
materials, engagement of residents to understand the interest of the community, and clear
delivery of city-wide messaging. The Coordinator is responsible for the city’s website, brand and
brand management and the training and coaching of all staff to best communicate to our

Knowledge and Experience

• A combination of education and experience in communications, marketing, and outreach
• A minimum of three years of experience in public messaging and marketing with some

personal or professional experience in local government preferred

• Ability to communicate effectively with the skills to present ideas and findings (both written

and oral) clearly and concisely

• Excellent editing and design skills, a sense of style with respect to various communication

mediums, ability to be creative and innovative in approach and method.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide

array of individuals and groups
