Title: Claims and Loss Analyst
Location: Greenville, SC (Onsite)
Lima One Capital is searching for a Claims and Loss Analyst to join the Servicing division of the company. The Analyst will be responsible for the management of all claims and loss-related activity. This activity includes, but is not limited, to review of all liabilities to ensure losses are appropriately identified, billed, and collected. The Analyst will work with multiple institutional investors and provide a high level of service to all internal and external stakeholders. The Analyst must be able to handle detailed and complex reporting and reconciling requirements and work with a high level of accuracy, independence, and analytical prowess. Additionally, the Analyst must be able to organize around and deliver against tight deadlines. In addition to routine reporting, the Analyst will assist with procedure reviews and other department projects.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes claims timelines.
- Decisions each expense to determine if claimable.
- Prepares and submits request for reimbursement of advances/expenses to the investor.
- Ensure that all claims are calculated and completed within investor regulations and state laws.
- Work closely with the accounting department to perform advance/expense reconciliations on a routine basis to ensure that transactions in the loan servicing system accurately reflect the bank activity
- Identifies, gathers and packages required documentation in support of claim, when applicable.
- Loss analysis/audit on claims submitted to the investor to determine the responsible party
- Prioritize allocated work to ensure timely and accurate resolution to both internal and external partners
- Streamline and automate current reports and templates. Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive other process improvements that positively impact departmental functions
- Provide a high level of service to internal and external partners through correspondence and communications
- Review servicing agreements and research and implement best practices for new investor counterparties using knowledge of investor procedures, remittance, and reporting requirements
- Cross-train existing and new employees in relevant investor reporting areas
- Assume other duties/projects as they arise and be responsive to other departmental needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 5+ year mortgage industry experience required
- 3+ year experience with investor reporting and/or secondary mortgage marketing and loan servicing preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Able to solve complex problems independently and with sound judgment
- Exceptional research and analytical abilities
- Proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize projects and tasks, and adjust quickly while maintaining attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
