Position summary:

The Aide is responsible for assisting the teacher with the care, supervision and management of a class of the children in accord with the goals and curriculum plan. The principal duties of the Aide are found below. The Aide reports to the Child Care Center Director.

Responsibilities (or essential duties):

  • Assist staff with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
  • Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
  • Attend Inservice and staff meetings
  • Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets.
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations

Knowledge and Skills required: (competencies needed for an individual to perform each job duty satisfactorily. List the knowledge, skill/ability required)

  • Physical & TB test completed within the last 12 months
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Criminal record clearance through DOJ/FBI/CACI
  • Mandated reporter training – every 2 years
  • Immunization records: MMR/TDAP, Flu, COVID-19 (can opt-out of flu & COVID-19 vaccination)
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills

Experience: (minimum or recommended)

  • 6 months experience with children under age 5 years

Education: (minimum or desired)

  • 12 core semester units
  • 3 semester units of Infant/Toddler Development preferred (current class enrollment will be considered)
  • 6 completed units of early childhood education
  • 18 years old, high school graduate or enrolled in an ROP at an accredited high school

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
