To ensure we continue serving legal service providers, CEB seeks a Director, Program Management Office (PMO) to strategize, lead, develop, implement, standardize, and oversee with high impact across the organization all the operational priorities and programs.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director, will form strategic plans to drive and support CEB's strategic goals and create operational excellence. The incumbent will work closely with the CEO as a trusted strategic advisor, and a critical member on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to design, guide, monitor, deliver, and report on the implementation and maintenance of programs, and systems initiatives that support strategic plans. This highly visible, cross functional leader, contributor, and vested partner, manages all communications and workflows in the PMO comprising the executive function, as well as liaising with board members, UC stakeholders, internal customers, and partners. The Director has governance and oversight throughout the organization and provides analysis for high impact solutions that promote CEB and the mission of the University. Builds specific strategic program management plans from ideation to implementation, creates organizational and operating analysis, provides leadership counseling, develops operational and process optimizations, effects change management, shapes organization wide program management framework, and provides governance.

Responsibilities

35% Strategic and Executive Advisor – supports and advises CEB’s leadership by developing and overseeing strategic plans, providing analysis and recommendations on a broad range of issues including operational, client, and market related challenges.

  • Directly involved in providing strategic guidance to CEO and executive team relative to CEB’s strategy, operations, new product development initiatives, communications, and resource planning.
  • Leads the planning efforts producing specific obtainable results aligned with CEBs strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Builds and executes a strategic action plan for leaders and teams to address pressing organizational or environmental market challenges.
  • Conduct organizational review and recommend operating models and designs that enable goal attainment. Leads systemwide transformation of operations and efficiencies.
  • Provide strategic leadership consulting guidance to meet goals. Holds a critical role for strategic innovation across the organization.
  • Responsible for executive decision making over major program deliverables.
  • Develops and implements improvements that streamline processes creating efficiency and effectiveness in operations.
  • Provides strategic direction for mission critical projects. Oversees the work of program managers and manages organization wide programs.
  • Oversees and coordinates the resources needed with a defined scope.
  • Performs as an executive leader supporting more senior executives in their roles overseeing internal operations and critical functions with great impact.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Big 5 main organizational initiatives, including staffing and managing budget and resourcing for the necessary programs, establishes deadlines, and delegates assignments to team members.
  • Oversees and drives all strategic organizational planning and effective execution of multiple initiatives and maintenance of CEB programs from ideation to implementation.
  • Problem solves issues for the CEO. Forms solution sets through thoughtful planning and analysis.
  • Provides best-practice guidance to executives and organizational teams.
  • Sets operational cadences, annual planning events.
  • Provides CEO and senior leaders with insight and analysis of the company’s operations.
  • Observes programs and projects with critical impact to ensure timely delivery, escalates, and influences best outcomes.
  • Makes recommendations to the CEO concerning time frames, prioritization, delegation, and organization. Provides expertise in emerging trends.
  • Optimizes the prioritization, delegation, and organization of the executive office by managing up and problem-solving with a high degree of competence and effectiveness on behalf of CEO.

35% PMO – leadership of complex four year, multi-million-dollar investment program consisting of a mix of operational and product development initiatives, requiring facilitation and collaboration across functions and involving third party providers.

  • Serve as a key advisor to the executive team, manage and resolve multiple conflicting priorities and drive high visibility programs, sensitive projects and initiatives including directly managing staff.
  • Organizational governance for current and ongoing infrastructure and process transformation.
  • Leads in systemwide program management and oversight supporting and advising cross functional teams on meeting objectives of high impact strategic initiatives aligned with best practice innovation.
  • Simplifying and scaling Content Operations, Product, and Finance functions, the Director will manage programs to ensure they’re fully resourced.
  • Raises concerns, makes projections, and prepares detailed resolutions.
  • Runs all program(s) logistics to ensure continuity; creates program plan changes and administers.
  • Provides plans to simplify and scale finance and supply chains and streamlines processes in the front and back office operations.
  • Lead in the simplification and scaling of content operations and digital first publishing to promote less styling and more writing.
  • Promote innovation by creating impactful documents and forms automation.
  • Amplify the contributor community and customer forums by connecting with the CA legal community; create a strategic plan to personalize and enrich the online user experience.
  • Create Digital go to market operations, modernize sales and marking operations.
  • Oversee cross functional initiatives that involve platform capabilities. Review, discuss and affect cross departmental outcomes.
  • Advises teams to accomplish sets of work to positively affect change in other departments.
  • Develop revenue generation strategies and make infrastructure adjustments.
  • Maintain best practices and document program statuses as a central hub.
  • Liaison and advisor to the leadership team and facilitates initiatives across the organization by managing the successful outcomes of these successful programs.
  • Manages risks from top level and plans appropriate resolve.
  • Takes ownership of items on behalf of the CEO, prepares executives for meetings, keeps CEO and ELT on track with priorities.
  • Develops programs plans for initiatives that cut across the organization for improvements to internal operations.

15% Strategic Communications and Change Management – partners with key resources to craft change management and communication plans. Manages all internal strategic communications and team of specialist resources including branding, pricing, and engaging product consultants as needed.

  • Develop integrated communications plans and identifies milestones and leads in their execution.
  • Partners with leadership team to deliver, monitor, and communicate progress towards goals.
  • Runs programs of the PMO, manages risks and ensures status is thoughtfully communicated throughout the rest of organization.
  • Delivers immediate impact to the CEO and executive team member’s productivity, by streamlining strategic initiatives, and communicating objectives across all functional groups.
  • Has span of control around infrastructure.
  • Organizational leadership responsibility to affect change management and initiate strategic communications.
  • Drafts companywide communications and disseminates timely information.
  • Controls and oversees communication flows and information between departments and individuals.
  • Creates communication materials for use throughout the company for delivery on a variety of platforms.
  • Prepares quarterly CEB Advisory Board presentations (e.g., designs discussion materials, prepares written updates, and customer connection).
  • Guides teams to plan and manage changes toward new ways of working. Promotes excellence and supports organizational adoption of implementation.
  • Directs the needs assessment for staff development to enhance effectiveness of organizational performance in achieving organizational goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and incorporates best practices and intel from the teams and develops them into program plans. Facilitates implementation of appropriate management initiatives, and reviews current development programs to ensure alignment with goals.
  • Partners to drive efficiency and outcomes, advocating and prioritizing organizational goals, overseeing program management, and working cross-functionally.
  • Consults with ELT and managers on organizational performance and key leadership matters.
  • Conducts need assessments to determine measures required to enhance team performance and overall organizational performance.
  • Facilitates executive staff meetings and executive planning sessions.
  • Represents the CEO, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attends meetings on the executive leader’s behalf, leads and implements various strategic processes across the organization, and provides important information to help prepare teams.
  • Bridges gaps between goals and outcomes with performance enablement.
  • 15% Roving Problem Solver and Decision Facilitator/Maker – improves internal processes and decision-making. Interacts with department heads, team leads, and employees and brings that level of insight back to important conversations with the CEO and ELT to influence a desired outcome. Resulting in more informed decisions positively affecting the company overall. Negotiates directly with and fosters key internal and external relationships to find, develop and prioritize solutions in a high engagement setting.Experience and Skills required
    • The Director will have skills and strong experience of working in a software, subscriptions and platform-oriented business environment so that they can assess and resolve complex issues typical to these environments.
    • Ability to think quickly, and be a proactive problem solver, coming to the table with solutions.
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience.
    • Knowledge of SaaS/Subscription business operations, B2B, growth and scaling experience a plus, as is working in a product and technology-oriented environment.
    • Strong skills in short- and long-range planning, program and project management, facilitation, and collaboration.
    • Strategic thinking and critical thinking skills in guiding the department toward workable strategies and solutions.
    • Superior ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision.
    • Strong ability to build relationships, coach and influence a broad range of staff and CEB stakeholders.
    • Excellent written communication, presentation, data reporting and analysis skills.
    • Develops trust and forms positive rapport to carry out deliverables on projects cross functionally.
