Regional One Health is currently seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for our South Third Outpatient Pharmacy location.

JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs various technical functions and activities relating to preparing, packaging and record-keeping of pharmaceuticals and controlled substances. Assists the pharmacists, physicians and patients in daily activities of clarifying physician orders to be dispensed by the outpatient/specialty pharmacy.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Successful completion of Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent education.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in patient care as obtained through completion of a Pharmacy Technician program or one (1) year previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician working in a retail, hospital or home health care environment.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current license to work in state of TN as Certified Pharmacy Technician and National Certification (PTCB or NHA) required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability and willingness to apply technical knowledge and skills and maintain clinical competency required to implement patient care and pharmacy services as demonstrated through practices, unit dose distribution, filling patient medication orders, preparing pharmaceutical products, transcribing and excerpting drug orders from patient medication records, inventory control and interact with computer systems.
• Excellent mathematical skills required for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceuticals.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively/professionally with hospital staff, patients, family, visitors, and physicians under routine and stressful situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constant standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling to perform rounds, fill carts and access supplies. Manual dexterity to compound IV's and performs data entry. Light work requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
