Role Summary:

This job description is a basic explanation of the responsibilities, duties, and functions for the CDL Driver’s position. This description is subject to change at any time, depending on the requirements of the quality system and management’s needs.

Role Priorities / Responsibilities:

  • Pick up and deliver products, supplies, and equipment and run errands as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain and preserve records associated with product pick up and deliveries
  • Ensure all loads are secure and that securing devices are in good condition prior to transporting.
  • Perform pre and post vehicle inspections to validate that vehicle is in safe operable condition and submit to management.
  • Complete and submit driver logs to management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain company vehicle by renewing inspection tags, licenses, and performing preventive maintenance as required and submit to management.
  • Notify Operations Manager of any issues identified with the company vehicle and/or issues surrounding deliveries/operations.
  • Perform work and drive the company truck in a safe manner including adherence to driving laws and company safe practices.
  • Inform Operations Manager of any driving violations/tickets/incidents that occur.
  • Perform housekeeping and other general warehouse maintenance activities as needed.
  • Maintain a current driver’s license at the appropriate classification level on file with company.
  • Maintain a current commercial driver medical certification on file with company.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and be knowledgeable of all FMCSA regulations.
  • Performs other tasks and assists in special projects as per supervisor’s request.
  • Facilitate the development of system documents such as operating procedures and work instructions that are needed in the field operations area and support the implementation of such.
  • Conduct company business as directed by the company’s management and further develop the system in accordance with the company’s mission and quality objectives and goals.
  • Travel as required to conduct company business and represent the company in matters pertaining to the system.
  • Maintaining and Filling information on all forms of media as required by the departments processes
  • Report to management any system discrepancies or opportunities for improvement regarding truck operations.
  • Be expected to effectively and professionally verbally communicate with customers, vendors, management, and other co-workers to perform the duties of this position.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with, understand, and assist in the implementation of business policies of the company, in order to support and enhance the working environment.
  • Understand and perform the processes as described in the position’s written operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Initiate customer complaint records as situations arise.
  • Perform his or her work in a timely manner, prioritizing his time according to the needs of the system, and quickly performing pickups and deliveries as required by the company.
  • Be aware of the concepts of the quality system and the format of ISO 9001 requirements as applicable to the CDL Driver position and operations group.

Position Qualifications:

Education

The minimum educational requirements for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Minimum of 6 months commercial driving experience, possession of a current commercial driver’s license at the appropriate class level, and a safe driving record.
