Boulder County's Department of Housing and Human Services (DHHS) has two openings for Home Study Caseworker Bs in the Family and Children Service's Division. One of these vacancies will be a bilingual required position. This position will conduct SAFE initial home studies and recertifications and may provide additional support to kinship families pursuing foster care certification.

This is a full-time, benefited position . The work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with some flexibility required to meet needs of families (evening and some weekend work is required). This position will work at 3400 Broadway and the HUB in Longmont with the ability to work remotely . Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $55,956.00-$68,220.00 Annually
Bilingual Hiring S alary Range: $58,704.00-$71,628.00 Annually

TENTATIVE HIRING TIMELINE:
  • Phone Screening: Week of May 24th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of May 29th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of June 5th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of June 5th

Examples of Duties

  • Engage and assess kinship and non-relative individuals wishing to become certified as foster parents.
  • Assess the safety of the home and work with the kinship family to remedy safety concerns.
  • Complete the yearly foster care recertification assessment and corresponding paperwork.
  • Schedule interviews with the family.
  • Write comprehensive assessments in the approved SAFE format.
  • Enter certification requirements into Trails and the internal data base.
  • Assist kin in completing the certification requirements and reduce barriers to kinship placements.
  • May be involved in the training of kinship and foster families.
  • Actively engage kinship families in the home study process
  • Performs related work, as required
  • May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is seeking well qualified candidates to fill our positions. For this opening, we are looking for a minimum of a bachelor's degree and one (1) year of post-degree paid experience in social casework.

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

BILINGUAL SKILLS (for bilingual required position):
  • Applicants must demonstrate fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration and written and oral testing.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:
  • Applicants must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting

VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE and RELIABLE VEHICLE:
  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, as well as your own reliable vehicle

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) training is required or must be obtained after hire.

Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interviewing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong writing skills.
  • Must be familiar or become familiarize with foster care policy, rules, regulations, as well as volume 7 regulations for foster care certification.
  • Ability to assess that foster care, kinship, and/or adoptive placements for children are safe and can meet the special needs of the children placed in those homes.
  • Working knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts of social casework practice
