Job description
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Assist with updating the book “Designing Better Maps” for the third edition.
- Prepare maps and explanatory graphics to accompany updated book text.
- Research, locate, download, and clean new spatial datasets for map figure creation.
- Conduct research on current technologies and policies that affect cartography.
- Organize graphic files at multiple resolutions to share content with publisher.
- Organize project deliverables and collaborator progress to meet publication deadlines.
Experience with ArcGIS Pro geographic information systems (GIS) software is required. Ability to organize spatial data in Microsoft Excel is required. Demonstrated excellence in layout, color use, line styling, and typography is required. Ability to edit and draw figures using graphic software is desirable (e.g., Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop).

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
