Job description
We are a Northwest Indiana construction company, working largely outdoors doing primarily fence and deck installation and repair. We also take on a multitude of different jobs at different times of the year. We are seeking an experienced carpenter who has the ability to lead a team. Your job will entail working in a variety of settings to produce standardized and custom projects. The ideal candidate will have existing knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials, health and safety standards, and industry building standards.
A strong candidate has reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Although we are located in Hebron, we service Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. Travel requirements vary by week depending on available work. We prefer an employee to supply some of their own tools.
Role:
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
- Cut and shape lumber and other building materials according to measurements and job needs.
- Construct framing, stairs, and decking utilizing raw materials and fabricated materials.
- Inspect work for quality control and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure safety of on-site crews.
Desired skills and experience:
- Prior experience as a carpenter with hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials.
- Understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Proficiency in utilizing electric and manual equipment and measurement tools. (saws, hammers, rulers, etc)
- Ability to reach technical documents and drawings.
- Team-oriented mindset and leadership style.
- Ability to delegate and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
- Ability to ensure quality control and efficiency of work.
- Eye for detail.
