Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities of the Role:

Capacity planning and design

• Create standard cage/cabinet design options that responds to routine customer requirements, Equinix requirements and physical site constraints.

• Prepares in AutoCAD notional cage/cabinet layouts, area calculations and diagrams for each individual standard data center, withing a limited scope.

Capacity Engineering

• Utilizes basic knowledge of electrical / mechanical infrastructure to notionally attribute cage/cabinet designs against data center infrastructure.

• Produces and validate sample solutions.

Problem Solving

• Recognises standard, cross functional Capacity (Space, Power and Cooling) issues that span multiple groups and knows to whom to escalate.

Data and drawing management

• Works under supervision with data center site operations to address discrepancies with documentation of facility infrastructure and installation of customer cages.

• Ensures that AutoCAD drawings and capacity systems correctly represent existing status of data center.

• Provides support to maintain the integrity of the Capacity drawings and inventory data.

• Provides support to create spatial layouts within limited scope.

Collaboration

• Works with immediate team members and may have external collaboration.

• Coordinates with various departments for the monthly reporting of Capacity trends, availability and accuracy of drawings and records of the site.

Capacity Feasibility and optimisation

• Identify power/cooling limitations, discuss potential solutions/options/modifications, and develop appropriate basic solutions.

• Acts as a support for the first point of contact for the Capacity Feasibility Review (CFR) process to ensure that customer requirement on space and power is being assigned in such a way that it maximizes the value of the Equinix data centers by optimizing the efficiency on space and power utilization.

Qualification and skills

• Degree in Architectural Space Planning or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Basic knowledge how to work with AutoCAD

• Basic German languages skills is essential

• Good English language communication and writing skills

• Good problem-solving ability

• Some basic understanding of the data center business

• Basic knowledge to handle databases & CRM Software

• Basic knowledge/interest in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)

• Knowledge and experience how to work with excel, powerpoint and outlook.
