This recruitment will be used to fill seven part-time CAMP Peer Ambassador positions for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at Oregon State University (OSU).
CAMP Peer Ambassadors (CPAs) will support CAMP’s effort to facilitate a successful college transitional experience for the incoming 2023-24 CAMP cohort.

CPAs, referred to as mentors, will be working with CAMP during START Bilingue, Summer Bridge Week as well as the three terms (fall, winter, spring) of the 2023-2024 academic year. Due to the structure of the Peer Mentor Program CPA’s hours worked are distributed as follows: Fall – 6 hours/week, Winter & Spring – 3 hours/week. Participating in events or other activities will be time volunteered.
As a CPA you will help to create a welcoming environment and familiarize CAMP Scholars with college life. A special emphasis will be placed on academic growth. You will receive ongoing training throughout the year, using the curriculum from the ALS 107: CAMP Orientation course to guide your conversation with mentees.
In addition, CPAs will help the new CAMP Scholars navigate college life at OSU by providing the students with information about available resources on campus, educating them about the expectations of higher learning, and encouraging participation in all CAMP activities.
- Commit to fall, winter, and spring terms (Fall: 6 hrs/wk, Winter & Spring: 3 hours/wk)
- Meet with your assigned mentees weekly during fall and bi-weekly during winter and spring term
- Assist in coordinating and participating in all on-and-off-campus events
- Help students with transitional, personal, and/or academic issues
- Enforce all University “Student Conduct Regulations”
- Monitor the safety and welfare of students during CAMP activities
- Participate in all CPA staff meetings, assist in conducting program evaluations
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
- International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
- Former CAMP Scholar
- Must hold a third-year student status or above
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above is strongly preferred
- Driver’s license
- Ability to drive 12 passenger van
- Bilingual – ability to speak Spanish and English
