The Business Performance team is charged with answering tough questions about the risk management, operational, and financial performance of the business. On the team, you’ll use your experience, creativity, data, and analytics to help keep us on track and find the insights needed to chart a new course through the energy transition.

Uses extensive subject matter expertise to help identify, improve, and report on business performance across the GEMS US B2B Supply business platform.

Work with all departments within Supply, as well as various business functions throughout ENGIE, to deliver and refine operational and financial measurement indicators that provide an advanced understanding of business performance, drivers, and improvement levers.


Drive continuous improvement of bottom-line results and earnings predictability by identifying margin delivery initiatives and opportunities to improve financial forecasting activities. Leverages and supports resources throughout Supply, as well as from corporate departments including Credit, Accounting, and Finance to deliver on objectives.


This role reports to the Head of Business Performance.


Essential Job Functions

  • Lead activities to enable the Business Performance team to further its goal of reducing gross margin variance and minimizing prior period adjustments across a retail energy portfolio that generates $~300M USD in gross margin per annum
  • Enable the forecasting and reporting of delivered energy quantities, revenues, costs of goods sold, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and other key operational, performance, and financial measurements
  • Enable the assessment and recommendation of key operational and performance indicators and operational controls to enhance the overall performance control framework of the US Supply business platform
  • Enable the analysis and interpretation of a broad range of data from internal and external systems to develop actionable insights
  • Enable the creation and maintenance of reporting that can be consumed by Group, Global Business Unit, Supply Leadership Team, and departmental audiences
  • Enable the review of ISO and wholesale counterparty settlements data, wholesale market data, costing models, hedging strategies, and hedging effectiveness to reduce variance in forecasted versus actualized costs of goods sold
  • Enable the review of customer energy usage forecast accuracy to drive transparency and improvement, reduce wholesale market exposure, and reduce usage driven prior period adjustments
  • Lead, collaborate, and motivate effectively across a variety of functional teams and departments including but not limited to Sales, Load Forecasting, Pricing, Portfolio Management, Operations, Billing, Settlements, and corporate Finance and Credit functions
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or Masters preferred
  • Concentration or experience in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or other quantitative discipline preferred
  • Minimum 10+ years relevant business experience, in Retail Energy preferred
  • Strong leadership and people development skills
  • Ability to expertly lead a data-driven, results-focused team and make key individual contributions
  • Ability to collaborate with and motivate other functional teams to achieve the BP team’s goals
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and intellectually curious
  • Creative problem solver with excellent judgment
  • Ability to work with sometimes demanding time constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex ideas and large amounts of data to communicate in audience appropriate manner, both orally and in writing
  • Expert proficiency in using large, sometimes poor quality, data sets to solve business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to abstract problems, data, and solutions to achieve effective, efficient results
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, with emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI
  • Proficiency in using T/SQL and PL/SQL to query data

  • Salary Range: USD $105,910.00-$270,530.00 annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
