The mission of KY APEX Accelerator is to promote Kentucky’s economic development by assisting companies who desire to and/or are in the process of providing products and/or services to the Federal, state, and local government or their prime contractors. KY APEX Accelerator Business Advisor will:

  • KY APEX Accelerator will serve as the primary points of contact for clients around the allocated region. Reports directly to the KY APEX Accelerator’s Executive Director.
  • Coordinate and host high-level meetings with local, state, and federal leaders and stakeholders in a variety of capacities, related to advancing KY APEX Accelerator’s mission.
  • Be adept with client consulting and advising and be prepared to spend the bulk of their time in these endeavors:
    • Being familiar with government purchasing and procurement processes and requirements.
    • Lead workshops and training events on specific topics dealing with government procurement and opportunities unique to Kentucky businesses.
    • Being able to review potential client responses to solicitations, including conformity to Statement of Work, delivery terms, and other terms and conditions of the procurement.
    • Being familiar with a variety of registrations and certifications that are needed, such as the System for Award Management, small business standards, minority set asides, etc.
    • Being able to learn all procurement tools utilized by PTACs and well aware of Client Relationship Management software (CRM).
    • Providing the highest client satisfaction possible, working closely with them in a friendly, professional, and expedient manner.
    • Achieving 40 hours per year of continuous education via webinar and in-person classes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience working in or advising to small business preferred.
  • Organized with ability to work in a professional and highly specialized environment.
  • Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision within a team environment.
  • Passion for economic development and providing support to businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to network and develop a strong client relationship across a wide range of people including entrepreneurs, service providers, government personnel, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and explain complex topics in plain English.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Exceptional technical skills with proficient level in using Microsoft Suite, teleconferencing platforms and cloud-based platforms, as well as knowledge in CRM software.
  • Travel on a regular basis, predominately within the counselor’s region, and must have reliable form of transportation.
  • Being able to occasionally attend in-person events after business hours.

Starting salary: $59,000 - $62,000/year depending on qualifications + full benefits package, including paid leave, health, dental, eyecare, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
