We are looking for a part-time Bookkeeper that has experience working within the Quickbooks Online environment and possesses a working knowledge of common accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll processes. General Job Summary

We are looking for a knowledgeable Bookkeeper to deliver the highest quality service with their work within the organization as well as in partnership with the large, multinational organizations with whom we do business. This position is ideal for someone who is well-versed in accounting and financial processes and regulations, is naturally well organized, enjoys working and improving systems, has a high level of attention-to-detail, and is interested in being part of a collaborative team that is trying to humanize work.

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing all transactional information for the business. This will include creating and reconciling all purchase orders, estimates, bills, invoices, and any reconciliations of the respective general ledger accounts. This candidate will also be responsible for the ongoing upkeep of supplier management systems prescribed by our customers.

This candidate will be part of a small team of professionals who pride themselves on working both collaboratively and independently. Key Responsibilities

  • Using QuickBooks Online, input and pay bills, create journal entries, reconcile bank statements, etc.
  • Generate accurate, complete, and timely invoices; prepare monthly forecasts against contracts/estimates
  • Summarize financial status by compiling and maintaining operations reports including spend analysis, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
  • Prepare special financial/contracting reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends; assist with development of contract budgets
  • Maintain confidence and protect operations by keeping financial, employee, and client information confidential
  • Identify opportunities for process and operations improvements, leading to designing new approaches
  • Take on other assignments as directed by the Senior Director of Operations or the Director of Finance

Regularly exercise independent discretion and excellent judgment

Position Outcomes

A successful candidate will be able to take full ownership of all A/P and A/R related items, help improve and streamline existing processes, and identify areas of inefficiency and co-create solutions. This is included but not limited to paying all vendor invoices within agreed-upon terms, generating and disseminating customer invoices within three days of receipt of contract, and reconciling monthly statements within 10 days of the close of the period.

Qualifications

  • Accounting degree/accounting certificate from an accredited college
  • General familiarity with month-end closings
  • Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Bank reconciliations experience
  • QuickBooks Online experience highly preferred
  • Adeptness in data entry
  • Account reconciliation experience desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Physical Demands

This is largely a stationary role, with most responsibilities performed through a computer. This role requires:

  • Typing and entering information into the computer
  • Reading and responding to email and other written communication
  • Remaining stationary and at a computer for multiple hours a day
  • No heavy lifting is expected

Job Classification: Part-Time, non-exempt

Reports to: Senior Director of Finance

Anticipated start date: ASAP

Location: At this time, we are seeking U.S. based candidates. Our organization is headquartered in San Francisco, California, but coming into the office is optional and we welcome remote employees! Employees are expected to work at least a 5-hour overlap with standard Pacific Time Zone business hours.

Salary: $30-$35 per hour for an average of 24 hours per week
