Bookkeeper

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Food For Thought is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization in Florida, serving Walton and Okaloosa Counties. Food For Thought works to fight child hunger through five, year-round programs, designed to fight the negative impacts of Child Hunger in the lives of Food Insecure children in grades K-12.

Our goal is to support a child’s development and educational experience by bridging the gap between school meals during weekends, Summer and Holiday breaks, as well as offering learning and life-skill resources through the Emeril Lagasse Full-Circle Kitchen and our Full-Circle Gardens.

Food For Thought has been working to fight child hunger since 2010, and currently serves 32 schools in Walton and Okaloosa Counties, reaching over 3,000 students weekly through our backpack services and classes in the Emeril Lagasse Full-Circle Kitchen.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Bookkeeper will report to the Founder but have daily oversight from the General Manager.

This position will handle many of the daily financial tasks of the organization, possibly including preparing bank deposits, verifying receipts, sending payments, making purchases, creating invoices, tracking overdue accounts, and more. Bookkeeper will perform duties within QuickBooks to maintain accurate books in keeping with the established process and procedures at Food For Thought Outreach. Perform daily accounting tasks such as general ledger entries, record donations and expenses. Reporting monthly, quarterly and yearly required with additional reports needed through the course of work. Donor statements will be issued as scheduled or as requested throughout the year

Skills & Experience Required

Required: At least two years of professional bookkeeping experience, preferably with Quickbooks

• Quality verbal and written communication skills
• Data entry skills
• Effective time management
• Attention to detail for accuracy
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Schedule and Availability

This is an in-office position, working a minimum of 25 hours per week. Hours may increase during peak seasons such as end of the calendar year, end of the fiscal year.

Other duties within this position may include:

• Supply ordering
• Scheduling repairs and maintenance
• Errands for the organization
• Greeting guests and welcoming them
• Returning calls
• Maintain binders and backups
• Track critical dates, renewals, account updates and general company deadlines

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
