SWEET DIPLOMACY BARISTA

Sweet Diplomacy is a unique patisserie cafe offering gluten-free and special diet-friendly pastries, as well as excellent coffee and tea drinks. Our downtown Los Altos store is a to-go bakery with public outdoor seating area.

We are looking for a motivated and highly-driven Barista who strongly believes in the Sweet Diplomacy philosophy of "World Flavors, Inclusive Tastes", who is proactive, punctual, reliable, and has excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

*Represent Sweet Diplomacy as a brand ambassador, provide amazing customer service, and create a positive work environment for fellow team members. *Actively observe and kindly listen to customer needs, reflect on best practices and synthesize store needs. *Perfectly versed in our bakery language, know about different dietary needs and common allergies, know our baked goods, able to inform and recommend products to customers. *Make and serve specialty espresso-based drinks and craft tea drinks accurately, able to follow recipes precisely. *Actively restock, prep, and present bakery products and service disposables (bakery containers, beverage containers, cleaning supplies, merchandise, etc) in a neat and timely manner. *Properly handle food and beverage offerings following health codes. *Handle stressful and difficult situations with composure. *Ensure that purchase store policies are respected. Skillfully explain to customers our policies when needed. *Help maintain a clean, tidy, and safe store environment. *Ensure smooth in-store and online pickup and delivery order experiences. *Liaise with team of bakers to ensure customers’ orders are executed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

*Dependable and able to work independently and work with a strong sense of responsibility. *Minimum one-year barista experience required. *Current Food Manager Certificate and/or CA Food Handler's Card required. *Integrity, positivity, empathy, and flexibility are your character attributes. *Ability to lift heavy objects for restocking/inventory purposes (up to 50 pounds). *Comfortable working on your feet for your entire shift. *Sensitive to gender, cultural, generational differences and ready to adapt to other peoples' communication styles and respect boundaries. *Willingness to learn and engage in life-long learning.

Compensation:

Compensation starts at $16/hour with pooled tips, with potential for more dependent on experience and performance.

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Mondays. Compensation is $17.00 - $20.00/hour.
