Bag Machine Operator

Second Shift

Do you want to work in a hands-on environment where you will work alongside others to make products used in well-known companies? The person who occupies this position is responsible for running bagger equipment as efficiently and safely as possible. The Bag Machine Operator is trained in and responsible for tending a high-speed machine that automatically measures, prints, cuts, folds, and glues or seals material, typically paper to form bags. The Bag Machine Operator is also responsible for the overall quality of finished goods.

Responsibilities:

• Threads materials from parent roll through guides and rollers to cutters, gluer, printer, folding device, or electric sealer.
• Starts machine, observes operation, and adjusts machine to ensure uniform shearing, printing, folding, gluing, or sealing of continuous roll of material into finished bags.
• Ensures quality product is being produced by making the necessary adjustments to the bag machine and checking quality throughout the process.
• Maintains the bag machine and the immediate area to keep the department neat and orderly including following cleaning procedures.
• Shuts down and cleans up department at the shifts end.
• Performs troubleshooting and basic maintenance on equipment, creating maintenance tickets for non-standard issues.
• Sets up the materials in preparation for the next day’s production schedule.
• Responsible for the overall quality of the finished product.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year machine operating experience
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• Must have basic math skills. Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand a tape measurer and/or ruler and demonstrate the ability to be accurate in these measurements.
• Ability to problem solve and work independently.
• Ability to lift 40lbs and up to 100lbs with assistance.
• Must be available to train on first shift.

Pay: $19.00 per hour + $2.50 second shift differential

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1:00 pm-9:30 pm
