Job Summary and Qualifications

The Division Assistant Vice President of Medical Staff Services assists the Division CMO, Vice President of Quality and Division team with implementation of and compliance with credentialing initiatives/processes. The incumbent is expected to maintain a working knowledge of applicable HCA Healthcare and Parallon Credentialing Processing Center (CPC) policies, accreditation standards and regulations associated with medical staff services, and play a key role in the integration of HCA Clinical Strategies and HCA systems.

Key deliverables for this position includes the establishment of high standards and consistent practices to include continuous compliance with regulatory, peer review, and risk standards. In addition, it includes continual improvement of communications, ensuring currency and validity of data within the operating systems, optimizing the Cactus credentialing database, and reducing duplication of efforts through streamlining systems to increase effectiveness of the department and division operations. The position leads the department in the acquisition process of new hospitals and collaborates with various departments playing a critical role in physician recruiting and retention, aspects of the HCA performance improvement and patient safety initiatives, and to accomplish the work of the division. This position is instrumental in decision making and resolving service problems to ensure physician satisfaction.

At the direction of the Division CMO and Vice President of Quality, the Division Assistant Vice President of Medical Staff Services will:

  • Serve as the communication link between corporate staff, division staff, and facilities within the division as related to HCA Credentialing Operations and Clinical Information Governance.
  • Monitor implementation and progress of credentialing and data integrity projects within the division
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship between facilities within the division, division staff, CPC staff and CSG/Professional Practice Advancement (PPA) personnel, division IT&S, Information Protection & Security and key internal stakeholders.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in medical staff services science, business, or related field of study or 5 years of work experience required. Master’s Degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION: Certified Professional Medical Services Management and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist required within 12 months of hire.

EXPERIENCE: 5+ years comprehensive credentialing experience in an acute care hospital or CVO setting. 2+ years supervisory/management experience preferred.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
