We are seeking an experienced Avionics Engineer with software development experience to develop the avionics system of uncrewed vehicles in a fast-paced startup environment. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and integrating avionics systems, including navigation, communication, and control systems, into rotary wing aircraft and unmanned vehicles. You will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and integrate avionics systems, including navigation, communication, and control systems, into rotary wing aircraft and unmanned vehicles.
- Design and implement software for avionics systems, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.
- Work with other engineering teams to ensure that avionics systems are integrated and tested with the overall aircraft or vehicle system.
- Analyze and troubleshoot avionics system issues, including software bugs and hardware malfunctions.
- Conduct testing and validation of avionics systems, including system-level testing and integration testing.
- Ensure that avionics systems meet regulatory and industry standards, including DO-178C and DO-254.
- Stay up to date with the latest avionics technologies and industry trends.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced startup environment to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions on time and within budget.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to design, implementation, and testing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in software development, including experience with C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
- Experience with avionics hardware and software design, including requirements analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.
- Familiarity with UAV hardware, including sensors, flight controllers, and communication systems.
- Familiar with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Familiar with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning concepts and frameworks such as YOLO, TensorFlow Object Detection API, and OpenCV.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and programming languages.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to obtain security clearance if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in avionics engineering, with a focus on software development for uncrewed vehicles.
- Familiarity with open-source software and hardware tools, such as PX4 and ArduPilot.
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols, such as MAVLINK and WiFi
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques for avionics applications.
- Experience in developing software for UAV collaboration
- Knowledge of computer vision techniques for UAV applications, such as object detection, tracking, and recognition.
- Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) for UAV software development.
