Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD):
The University of Central Florida (UCF) Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) is the largest of seven regional centers established in Florida to offer resources and nonresidential services to individuals with autism and related disabilities and their families. The UCF center serves children and adults living in Orange, Lake, Osceola, Sumter, Brevard, Volusia, and Seminole counties. The center's mission is to enhance lives through consultation, training, technical assistance, and public awareness education so that individuals with autism find it easier to lead fulfilling and productive lives in our communities. We also provide activities that encourage socialization, learning, and personal enrichment.
The Opportunity:
UCF is seeking to hire two (2) Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Specialist I positions. This is for positions #P-56028 and #P-56029. The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Specialist I is responsible for working directly with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, their families/caregivers, and the educational and local agencies serving children and adults with autism-related disabilities. Under direct supervision, the ASD Specialist supports or delivers parent education professional development reflecting an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders and related disabilities, and direct consultative services to children and adults with ASD and their families. Work is conducted in school, home, community, and office settings. The position involves frequent travel in a personal vehicle within Central Florida, including Volusia County (with mileage reimbursement). Those applying for the position need to have the flexibility to work outside traditional UCF hours.
Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for conducting phone/remote consultation, school consultation, and in-home visits to clients of CARD.

Develop home programs with families of CARD clients.

Deliver prepared parent and professional seminars and education programs, including evening and weekend dates, at least four times a month.

Conduct initial consultations with new clients and make recommendations under direct supervision.

Responsible for delivering in-service training programs and conducting seminars and training courses, including evening and weekend dates, at least four times a month.

Participate in public education and awareness activities, support technical assistance plans within schools and community groups, conduct intakes, resource, and referral technical assistance, and assist with screenings for children and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and commitment to improving outcomes for individuals with ASD across the age range. We are looking for someone who has a passion to help unleash the potential of children, families, and adults living with ASD to lead outstanding lives.

Autism Endorsement, behavioral, educational, or communication disorders certification.

Teaching, communication, counseling, or behavioral experience.
