Major/Essential Functions

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the School of Health Professions at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Doctor of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences (ScD RS) program at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin January 2024. The ScD RS program is one of six programs within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. The faculty member will work collaboratively with faculty from the Masters of Athletic Training (MAT), Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTDP), and Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD) programs within the department as well as with other departments within the School and University.
The successful candidate will join one of the oldest programs of its kind in the world. It is a blended post-professional terminal degree program for licensed athletic trainers, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who seek advanced clinical knowledge and skills. The ScD is clinically focused rather than profession focused. This degree builds on shared knowledge and encourages new interprofessional paradigms.

The successful candidate will:
Contribute to the mission of the SHP through teaching, research and service.

Teach courses in the Doctor of Science program and potentially in other programs in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences

Guide and advise students through the dissertation process

Participate in scholarly collaboration through the SHP Center for Rehabilitation Research

Participate in service at the departmental, college, and university levels

Demonstrate a commitment toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment

Provide service to the field and wider community

Required Qualifications

• Earned Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Science
• Currently licensed, or eligible for a license, to practice as an AT, OT, or PT in the state of Texas

Preferred Qualifications

Three years’ experience in an academic role

Three years of clinical experience

Evidence of scholarly agenda with the potential for integrating students

Evidence of teaching in a blended program

Evidence of teaching research design and evaluation concepts

Evidence of experience guiding doctoral students through a dissertation process
Broad record of teaching experiences
Evidence of research/scholarly achievement

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website.
