Citrus Counseling Services (CCS) is a registered non-profit mental health agency that has been providing counseling and mental health services throughout the Inland Empire since 1978. We have over 50 employees that offer a wide range of services and programs. In addition to our general mental health program, we have specialized programs for young children, at-risk youth, family reunification support, military veterans and their family, faith-based support, and a Trauma Recovery Center.


Summary

CCS is looking for a full-time Associate Mental Health Therapist to join our Trauma Services team. The Trauma Services Program includes the CCS Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). The TRC is designed to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC serves recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The Associate Mental Health Therapist will provide clinical intakes, individual and group psychotherapy, assertive outreach, and clinical case management services, using evidence-based practices that are effective for the service population.


Major Responsibilities


  • Conduct clinical intakes of new clients using a trauma-informed approach and identifies service needs when appropriate. Assessment includes identifying presenting problems, psychosocial history, mental status exam, and DSM-5 diagnosis.
  • Provide crisis intervention on-site at the TRC.
  • Clinical services also include short-term, trauma-informed individual and group psychotherapy as well as comprehensive clinical case management, liaison with other health care providers, and referral and accompaniment to community services when appropriate.
  • May visit client at home and/or in the community for the purpose of outreach and follow-up if the client is unable to keep regularly scheduled appointments.
  • Utilize knowledge of the mental health, medical, and community resources in San Bernardino County and maintain familiarity with new programs.
  • Develop a comprehensive treatment and service plan for each client, integrating knowledge from a wide range of human service resources.
  • Facilitate coordination of services among various agencies; advocate for and link client to needed services. Help to eligibilize clients for social security disability, Victim of Crime, and other financial entitlements.
  • Serve as a client advocate and liaison with the District Attorney’s Office and Police Department for victims of crime wishing to file police reports, restraining orders, etc.
  • Participate in in-service training and case conferences.
  • Conduct community presentations.
  • May assist with program development, including identification and implementation of types of appropriate measurement-guided mental health treatment.
  • Consistently meet individualized clinical service hour goals.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidential clinical records in keeping with agency policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other team building activities.
  • Participate in community events as needed.
  • Perform administrative, development, and other organizational tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree or higher in a Behavioral Health discipline.
  • Associate Registration as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Clinical Counselor.
  • Registered and in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
    • Candidates that have a pending registration with the BBS will be considered with the condition that an active registration number will be obtained within 45 days of accepting the offer of employment.
  • Insurable for Professional and General Liability insurance.
  • Experience working with trauma survivors from underserved populations, including young people of color, people who are homeless and/or chronically mentally ill, people from immigrant and refugee groups, and LGBTQ people.
