Job Summary
Under the Direction of the Executive Director of the Counseling Center, supervise and lead the Counseling Center - Armstrong Campus.
Coordinate the work of Armstrong Campus Counseling Center staff to uphold the mission of the Georgia Southern Counseling Center by providing comprehensive mental health services to the Armstrong Campus in compliance with the Counseling Center policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the highest standards of Counseling Services by Armstrong Counseling Center mental health staff in accordance with accreditation guidelines of the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS) and the Counseling Center policies and procedures
- Ensure that the Executive Director of the Counseling Center is kept informed of all concerns and incidents related to the Armstrong Campus Counseling Center and its staff
- Assist the Executive Director in the effective assessment of progress toward Counseling Center strategic goals
- Serve as the Armstrong Campus Counseling Center representative in the management of crises within the Armstrong campus community
- Conduct orientation and training of Armstrong Campus Counseling staff to familiarize them with procedures and expectations
- Provide/assign supervision toward licensure for new Armstrong Campus Counseling Center staff
- Provide individual, relationship, and group therapy to Georgia Southern students
- Provide crisis on-call service in rotation with other clinical staff
- Provide crisis/triage assessment and response to students as needed
- Participate in training programs housed within the Counseling Center
- Provide outreach programming and consultations to the campus community
- Maintain ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice for Psychologists, Professional Counselors or Social Workers (as relevant to credentials) in the State of Georgia
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Master's Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology or Social Work
Other Required Qualifications
- Licensed as a Psychologist, LPC or LSW in the State of Georgia or ability to qualify for and obtain said license within three (3) months of start date
Required Experience
- Five (5) or more years of post-licensure related work experience
- Experience in provision of clinical and administrative supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems
- Familiarity with IACS accreditation standards
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a university counseling center
- Certified Professional Supervisor credential in the State of GA (or ability to qualify and apply for credential within six (6) months of start date) or Licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Georgia
- Experience with providing clinical and administrative supervision of mental health professionals
- Experience with public speaking
- Experience with crisis intervention
Proposed Salary
$85,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

KNOWLEDGE
- Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
- Knowledgeable about APA Ethical Codes, ACA Ethical Codes, Georgia legal statutes pertaining to provision of mental health services, and IACS accreditation standards.
- Knowledgeable about counseling theories, mental health diagnoses, interventions, treatment planning and therapeutic outcomes.
- Understanding of social, developmental, and psychological issues and challenges faced by students with higher education

- Demonstrate commitment to inclusiveness by working well with diverse populations
- Effective communication (verbal and written)/public speaking, organizational and human relations skills
- Demonstrate appropriate organizational skills as required for specific position
- Effective clinical and therapeutic skills to foster positive therapeutic relationships with students
- Demonstrated ability to present outreach programming on mental health topics
