Summary
The Associate CRB Auditor utilizes continuous improvement experience and a deep understanding of the rail industry’s car repair billing rules to for auditing incoming invoices from the Association of American Railroads (AAR) for proper billing codes and appropriate charges in accordance with AAR rules and industry standards and practices. This position is responsible for proper handling of inbound and outbound car repair billing invoice rejections and exceptions for GMS, while driving continuous improvement efforts to streamline effective rejection and exception processes.
Duties And Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Reviews and audits incoming billing, and incoming exceptions to outgoing invoices, to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry rules, practices, and procedures

Works with CRB Exceptions Coordinator to ensure proper distribution of letters and tracers. Responds to incoming exceptions within required internal and industry time limits, issuing counter billing authority where applicable

Ensures that incoming rejections and exceptions are loaded into the GMS Enspire platform within required timeframes

Manages rejection and exception correspondence verifying that they are in accordance with contractual and industry requirements and processed within mandated time limits

Reprocesses incoming invoice rejection letters so that invoices are resubmitted timely

Reviews outbound rejection and exception letters for accuracy prior to being issued, and reports and tracks responses to the letters

Produces billing exception and rejection reports

Reviews and approves appropriate billing credits based on inbound granted Counter Billing Acceptance

Coordinates with internal stakeholders for updates and reporting

Coordinates with Asset Managers on processing exceptions they have taken; makes determination and ensures timely processing and accuracy

Provides support to other fleet maintenance team members, including members from other departments

Develops procedures to improve CRB exception handling processes within GMS for further visibility and efficiency

Attends internal meetings to support cross-functional projects and activities
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

College degree in accounting/ finance/business related program or relevant experience

10 years of railroad car repair billing experience

Proficient knowledge and understanding of AAR Car Repair rules

Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization

Ability to analyze and find solutions to difficult or complex issues

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and information concurrently with accuracy

Ability to define strategies and make decisions to achieve strategic goals and priorities

Ability to improve process efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 + years of railroad car repair or related experience
