SUMMARY:
The Assistant Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee staff and services at Dakota Station. Responsibilities will include supervising staff, helping in kitchen area and/or working behind counter in a busy convenience store environment. This includes taking inventory, placing orders, scheduling, assisting with bookkeeping and other duties as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs.
- Supervise, schedule, and train convenience store staff
- Provide leadership to staff in order to monitor service and provide superior customer service
- Control inventory and distribution of product to maximize profit
- Ensure all work assignments are completed daily
- Assist manager with bookkeeping duties
- Follow and enforce all store policies
- Ensure all areas of the store, both inside and outside are kept clean, free of dirt and clutter and monitor that proper cleaning procedures and materials are used to maintain a food service clean environment
- Monitor and ensure that store staff has shelves, coolers and freezer stocked, rotated and front-faced to ensure freshness and quality of products and easy customer access
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of store equipment
- Maintain any required food handlers’ certification/license as required
- Make sure all employees are trained using the prescribed materials, tools and processes and encourage staff to develop additional skills
- Communicate with store staff regarding new item information, processes and other information related to the operation of the store
- Encourage teamwork and a positive work environment
- Other duties as assigned by store manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Two (2) years of retail experience
- Six (6) months of supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- POS systems experience and money handling skills
- Knowledgeable of back office procedures
- Excellent customer service skills, both over the phone and in-person
- Food Handler Certification from state of Minnesota or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment
- Knowledge of basic business practices
- Willingness and flexibility to be available to work on all three shifts, week-ends and holidays as necessary
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Successful experience working in a team setting
- Sensitive to Native American Culture
- Must pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability
Preferred
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:*
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand or walk up to ten hours per day regularly
REQUIRED TRAINING:
- Effectively Handling Harassment training
- Any position-related training as determined by department manager
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed primarily in a convenience store setting, but may include occasional outdoor activities
