JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

To evaluate if newly synthesized small molecules alleviate developmental alcohol-induced neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation using cultured cells and a mouse model of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The job requires cell culture, mouse handling, perfusion, biochemical (such as Western blotting, qPCR, and ELISA), and histological techniques.

JOB DUTIES:

• To prepare and maintain cultured neurons and microglia and treat those cells with small molecules.
• To prepare and treat mice with small molecules.
• To analyze cultured cells harvested or mouse brain samples by Western blots, ELISA, and qPCR.
• To perfuse and fix mouse brains and prepare brain sections for histochemistry.
• To analyze data, present data in meetings, and prepare manuscripts.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• PhD degrees in biological or chemical sciences.
• Small animal husbandry and surgery experience.
• Competence in cell culture work.
• Experience in biochemical, molecular biological, and histological techniques.
