Job description
JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
To evaluate if newly synthesized small molecules alleviate developmental alcohol-induced neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation using cultured cells and a mouse model of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The job requires cell culture, mouse handling, perfusion, biochemical (such as Western blotting, qPCR, and ELISA), and histological techniques.
JOB DUTIES:
- To prepare and maintain cultured neurons and microglia and treat those cells with small molecules.
- To prepare and treat mice with small molecules.
- To analyze cultured cells harvested or mouse brain samples by Western blots, ELISA, and qPCR.
- To perfuse and fix mouse brains and prepare brain sections for histochemistry.
- To analyze data, present data in meetings, and prepare manuscripts.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD degrees in biological or chemical sciences.
- Small animal husbandry and surgery experience.
- Competence in cell culture work.
- Experience in biochemical, molecular biological, and histological techniques.
