Job Description Summary
The Computer Science and Computer Engineering Department at the University of La Verne invites applications for a full-time tenured track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related fields. Candidates must be committed to excellence in On Ground (Face-To-Face and Telepresence), Online (Synchronous and Asynchronous) and Hybrid teaching modalities with a strong desire to establish research projects that provide valuable learning opportunities for undergraduate students. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses On Ground, Online, and Hybrid in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or Information Technology. Other responsibilities include: academic advising, maintaining office hours, mentoring, faculty committee participation, developing courses, coordinating with Regional and Online Campuses (ROC) course offerings, and as well as helping the department prepare for ABET accreditation.

Specific Duties
The successful candidate is expected:
  • to teach six undergraduate courses per year in the Computer Science and Information Technology curriculum using On Ground (Face-To-Face, telepresence), Online (synchronous, asynchronous), and Hybrid teaching modalities


  • to publish in peer review journals and present at conferences.

  • to provide academic advising, mentoring, and maintain office hours

  • to participate in departmental, college, and university governance activities through committee service and/or other appropriate activities

  • to participate and collaborate in departmental program modification by assisting in developing, implementing, and assessing the Information Technology program.

  • to participate in the design, evaluation, assessment, revision, and development of culturally relevant curriculum, courses by collaborating with other disciplines

  • to develop courses for Online / Hybrid courses, as well as coordinate with Regional and Online Campuses (ROC) course offerings.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology obtained from an accredited institution. In addition, the applicant must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills in the English language, as well as expertise in one or more of the following subjects: Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Cloud Computing Technologies, Discrete Mathematics, Networking, and Computer Programming Languages. The candidates must show evidence of effective teaching in Face-To-Face and Online techniques with at least one-year experience at the undergraduate level and some teaching experience with adult student populations.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will also have a history of active participation in professional development as evidenced by presentations and publications; display a readiness to work closely with undergraduate students and faculty colleagues through research, community engagement, and service initiatives; and exhibit the leadership abilities necessary to expand the Information Technology program. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in teaching, creating interdisciplinary courses across colleges, and program management, along with industry experience. The candidate is expected to conduct research and contribute to the growth of the field overall while engaging in peer collaboration.

Candidates with Cybersecurity and/or Artificial Intelligence background or professional experience.
