We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Patient Care Director for our Medical Surgical Unit who will be responsible for direction of the nursing unit (s) in coordination with the patient care director in concert with the goals of that unit according to the philosophy of the Division of Patient Care Services. The responsibility includes unit administration, direct nursing care and coordinating activities with ancillary departments.
In 4NE, also known as the Medical Surgical Unit they care for the adult and geriatric population. This unit consists of 26 beds, 22 of which are private, and the remaining are double occupancy. The team in 4NE provides general medical care to patients as well as caring for surgical overflow. Typical skills used in this unit include general ADL, medication administration (all routes) and IV placement. 4NE is a very diverse unit because their team comes from all different backgrounds and work experiences. They are able to learn from each other to cultivate a unique and team oriented environment. - Graduate of accredited school of nursing required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred
- At least one of relevant nursing experience and demonstrated leadership ability
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact State Licensure in Nursing required
- Certification in area of Clinical Specialty preferred
- American Heart Assoication BLS CPR Certification required
- Maintain and promote affiliation with professional and schools of nursing by providing preceptors, education, participating in educational conferences, and mentoring.
- Collaborates to conduct in-services
- Develops, monitors, evaluates, and documents Continuous Quality Improvement activities in accordance with hospital, state, and The Joint Commission standards. Implements change according to results in coordination with appropriate leadership.
- Identifies potential process improvement deficiencies and actively participates in resolution through communication and education of staff.
- Assures quality of care and services by adhering to industry standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and benchmarks established by the organization.
- Consistently reviews patient survey results to identify feedback, sustain a high performance environment, and lead targeted improvements to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
