Assistant Construction Project Manager/Estimator Position Highlights:

Assist Account PME with estimating, coordinating, and managing a high volume of jobs. Provide collaboration between field job sites and the office. Monitor and track status of all active projects at sites. Gathers, calculates and complies data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates, preparing routine estimates under general supervision. Assists PM's with the management of projects, budget tracking, and other financial duties. Maintains current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact.

Person in this role is primarily assigned to Hudson office team but may occasionally assist at other sites managed out of the Chicopee office as directed by supervisor. It is expected that this role will be a mix of time in field at customer sites and time in office/s.

Assistant Construction Project Manager/Estimator Responsibilities:

1. In conjunction with site crew leader or project manager, walkthrough and assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project. Fill out job estimate sheet complete with isometric sketches.

2. Prepare complete estimate for selected small projects and provide support on larger estimates.

3. Procure job materials for active jobs at PM's direction.

4. Track & organize equipment rentals/job changes/ change orders at PM's direction?

5. Monitor status of all DPS Eastern active projects for progress and communicate to team. Provide job status information for billing updates.

6. Responsible for communicating early development/opportunities to DPS Team.

7. Assist project managers with variety of project management tasks as directed

8. Help project managers and site teams maintain good customer service and responsiveness. Maintain positive working relationships with client personnel and craft team.

9. Act as customer liaison with regard to DPS projects. At the guidance of the Account PME, represent the company in customer project meetings

10. Verify field dimensions and field conditions and develop and submit drawings and sketches to support construction work.

11. Perform various assignments as given by your supervisor.

Assistant Construction Project manager/Estimator requirements:

Individual must be organized, professional, dependable, and detail oriented. Must be self-starter and disciplined to assure department and site processes and periodically scheduled tasks are completed on a timely basis. Must have excellent personal skills including the ability to protect confidential information. Must have good interpersonal skills including communication, organization and relationship building. Must be physically able to access remote areas of building and structures via ladders, tunnels and crawlspaces.


Education and experience:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or 4 years trade experience.
  • Background in construction is a plus!
