JOB DESCRIPTION

POSTION: Asset and Inventory Specialist

LOCATION: Red Cliff Administration Office

WAGE: $17.00-19.00/hour, depending on experience

SUPERVISOR: Property and Procurement Officer

THIS IS A REGULAR FULL TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION.

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Property and Procurement Officer this position is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate inventory records on the acquisition, status, and disposition of Tribal assets. This position will perform technical and administrative duties in support of purchasing, records management, inventory control, and asset management. Assist Property & Procurement Office in the performance of annual inventory in accordance with the Red Cliff Property & Procurement Manual and federal, state, and local regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure accountability of all Tribal assets.
  • Maintain complete and accurate property and inventory records.
  • Perform annual inventory of all Tribal property.
  • Perform quarterly compliance checks on inventory.
  • Assist Property & Procurement with ensuring fixed assets are properly insured.
  • Perform technical and administrative duties in support of purchasing, records management, inventory control, and asset management.
  • Provide information to Tribal Administration, Finance Manager, and Property and Procurement Officer as required.
  • Provide inventory information to programs to improve inventory management.
  • Attend staff and other meetings, in-services, and events as directed by supervisor.
  • Participate in training activities to enhance knowledge of team skills, systems functionality etc.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of and sensitivity to Ojibwe culture and traditions. Knowledgeable of Native American Tribes and the uniqueness of the Red Cliff community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years Clerical & bookkeeping experience or a combination of training or experience, preferred.
  • Must have considerable working knowledge & experience with computers.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must exhibit good communication skills, oral and written.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. Personal vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage preferred. Must maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment. Must be eligible to be placed on the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Daily contact with Tribal Administration, Division Administrators, Program Directors, funding agencies, customers etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work setting must be maintained as a clean, nonsmoking, well-ventilated area in compliance with all applicable safety regulations. All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position involve bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying. Items may be placed on overhead storage. Weights to be carried are usually less than 50 pounds.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to travel and attend meetings and trainings; overnight and out of town, both locally & nationally.
