Spectrum Associates, Inc. is a leader in quality manufactured fluid control instrumentation serving the defense, aerospace and commercial industries. Products produced include pressure switches, indicators, crash-resistant breakaway valves, manifolds/actuators, sub-assemblies and build-to-print products.

Our production staff currently needs a highly motivated, organized and quality conscious employee. Producing a high quality product and attention to detail is paramount. This position reports to the Operations Manager and works under the direct supervision of a Cell Leader. The successful candidate will be required to perform a variety of tasks such as electronic, electro-mechanical as well as hydraulic assemblies. They will also be required to carry out mechanical assemblies in fuel tanks which often involves working in confined spaces.

TECHNICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and blueprints.
  • Follow Assembly Operation Instructions (AO’s), product manuals, process documents, and gather information regarding its parts, fixtures, tools, etc..
  • Ability to use Standard Measurement Equipment such as calipers, micrometer, height gauge, etc.
  • Capable of reading pressure gauges.
  • Basic machining knowledge of lathes and milling machines.
  • Excellent fine motor skills with demonstrated manual dexterity for precision alignment.
  • An ability to track fine details visually and discover defects.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic assembly and testing is preferred.

NORMAL DUTIES

  • Assembly of switch/valve products using Operations Procedure books with step-by-step instructions.
  • Light soldering of terminated wires to electrical switches and receptacles (experience with J-Std is a plus).
  • Calibration of spring loads using test stand with indicator and pressure gauge.
  • Light machining on lathes and milling machines.
  • Final assembly and testing to specified Acceptance Test Procedure.
  • Mark identifying information on parts.
  • Products produced may be flight safety and may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks (in kits of 25-100 piece lots).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS *EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE*

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production environment.
  • High School Diploma/Professional Diploma in electronics or electro-mechanics desirable.
  • Experience with aerospace assemblies a plus.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for some products.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
