The Artist-in-Residence is a non-tenure track faculty position appointed on the basis of outstanding professional attainments, creative accomplishments, and recognition in his or her specific field and renders specified service to the University including lectures, performances, demonstrations, master classes, and consultations.
Description of Primary Duties
Depending on the candidate’s strengths and needs of the Choral Program, primary duties will include:
Chorale
Women’s Chorus
Men’s Chorus Collegiate Singers
Choral Union
Graduate Conducting Seminar
Advanced Choral Conducting Concerts
Dress rehearsals, recruiting events, and tours
Fall Recruitment Tour
January Recruitment Tour (regional – St. Louis, KC, Northwest Arkansas)
MMEA/ACDA/NCCO performances
National and International Chorale Tours
Commercially released recordings
Choral Institute
Invitational Honor Choir
Guest high school choirs on campus
Choral Gala
  • Ability to work collegially with faculty colleagues, administration, and alumni while maintaining MSU’s Public Affairs Mission of cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Artist-in-Residence are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess: Collaborative piano experience in choral studies. Must be able to work collaboratively with public school choral programs and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups associated with university choirs including students, faculty, administration, athletic staff, development staff, alumni, and community members. Salary commensurate with experience and education. Collaborative Choral Pianist Experience is required.
