JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing quotations to meet the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications while working closely with the outside sales team executing company selling strategy. Supports sales representative team by responding to customer questions and inquiries in a timely manner. Assists with the order reconciliation process and successful hand off to the Project Management team or the Technical Processing Team, as required. May require the entering of orders into ERP system while including all documentation. Qualified candidates will have the ability to blend technical and commercial sales skills to support and drive business.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides first line quotation support for custom mixer solutions to the Sales Representatives or other team members as required. Support maybe through emails, Esales, CFD analysis, phone calls, conference calls, customer visits and/or lab testing, with peer assistance.
- Develops a technical written proposal (including all necessary documentation) in response to customer inquiries.
- Applies engineering principles to translate the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications into the most advisable sales quotation with the direction of the PTT team or peers. This may require coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and coordinating the sourcing of non-standard parts.
- Process sizing for blending and solid suspension will be subjected to a peer review (PTT team or at minimum AE Team Lead 1&2), as required and/or needed. This requirement is applicable for top entry and side entry agitation requests. Complex sizing such high viscosity, gas liquid and/or specialty markets is not expected at this level.
- With direction from the peers and/or supervisor, designs complete mixer to meet simple mechanical specifications and/or process requirements by performing calculations. Additional roles may require the coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and coordinating with the sourcing department or the vendor directly for non-standard parts. More complex mechanical designs are to be sent to the mechanical engineering team.
- May require the entry of new inquiries into ERP and CRM system(s) with correct and complete information per company procedures.
- May assist with the entry of orders into the ERP system by completing a thorough review of the order requirements and performing a detailed entry of all data necessary to process the order.
- Costs and prices complete mixer consistent with published guidelines for custom solutions.
- Available to travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with other departments during the quotation and/or order reconciliation process to ensure a quality product consistent with current SPX Flow policies. To ensure that customer transactions and orders are delivered on time and on specification.
- Follows instructions from Commercial Team and other Application Engineering Management on sales strategy.
- All completed work to be filed electronically to create proper historical record of transactions consistent with Application Engineering team policies.
- Expected to play a supporting role in customer witness and non-witness lab testing opportunities. (Can be paid process consulting.)
- Expected to be a supporting team member on customer visits.
- Will be expected to run simple CFD requests for clients.
- Will be expected to complete the extensive AE training program within a 7-9 month time period and become self-sufficient in quoting by 1 year or less.
- Successfully completion of the AE 1 role will be to pass a blending and solid suspension test. Included on this test will also be other simple process or mechanical design concepts. A passing grade will be an 85% or higher.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel, Sales Rep’s and customers
- Ability to read, interpret and accurately respond to technical specifications related to mixer applications and mixer design
- Solid knowledge of Lightnin, Philadelphia and Plenty product (or similar Mixer Industry) capabilities and limitations
- Fluid Mechanics and rotating equipment
- Knowledge of industry engineering standards and Lightnin or equivalent rotary equipment capabilities
- Good oral and written communications skills; able to provide concise and accurate technical communications
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, SAP, other technical applications)
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop alternatives
- Strong interpersonal skills and a good team player
- Strong oral and written communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required. In limited cases, this degree requirement may be met through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction establishing substantially the same level of knowledge as an Engineering degree.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Use of the appropriate PPE is required.
