Cargo

Using the cargo capacity of United’s route network, United Cargo propels the global economy by quickly transporting their customers’ shipments to and from virtually every major market in the world.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Analyst is a key member of a team that oversees the network strategy, route optimization, planning and financial management for the Postal division of United Cargo. This team is tasked with driving achievements that meet or exceed revenue targets and volumes aligned with divisional goals, including: management of three government contracts for the United States Postal Service, several international partner carrier (code share) contracts and the support of other international government postal business.

  • Works closely with Cargo stakeholders of all levels and across many different functional areas including Sales, Operations, Revenue Management, Accounting/Finance (month-end closing, accounts payable, variance explanation and forecasting) and code share partners to lead in the development of network routing and capacities that enhances opportunities for domestic and international mail offers
  • The Analyst will also be responsible for creating and distributing performance reports (related to market utilization, planned routes and sales opportunities), ad hoc analysis, process optimization and project participation
  • Conduct in depth analysis and leverage the findings to produce accurate, timely and optimized domestic and international offers to the USPS (domestic - weekly and international - every 4/5 weeks)
  • Oversees the monthly reconciliation and payment process for international partner carriers (code share)
  • Responsible for scheduled and ad-hoc analysis & reporting to support key metrics, quality assurance and departmental initiatives
  • Participation in process optimization and divisional/team projects

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in business or economics or other quantitative fields
  • Minimum +2 years professional business experience or equivalent educational background
  • Experience working cross functionally, preferably with sales, operations and finance teams
  • Experience with quantitative reporting or analysis
  • Forecasting, modeling and quantitative analysis, strong communication skills, with close attention to detail
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Airline experience, international business experience, transportation experience, commercial or financial decision making
