JOB DESCRIPTION: We are searching for innovative educators who are eager to be challenged. Kingsley is seeking an educator who will thrive in an entry-level position as a Toddler After School Teacher for ages 2-3. This is an exciting opportunity to teach at one of Boston’s premier independent schools. We are seeking world-class educators (either Montessori trained or with an independent school background) who are looking to bring innovation into the classroom and desire to learn and work with proven Montessori pedagogy. At Kingsley, your educational passion and creativity can have an impact on the design of our progressive, integrated curriculum. As an After School Program Teacher, you will be responsible for all aspects of your students’ classroom experience and developing strong partnerships with parents, Classroom Teachers, and Co-Curricular Teachers. Other important duties include advancing your professional and personal growth, collegiality, and administrative duties. All teachers attend regular meetings, observe, advise, and serve as a mentor and role model for other faculty in the areas of Montessori methodology, curriculum management, classroom schedules, record keeping, student needs, and the classroom environment. After School Program Teachers report to the Director of Auxiliary Programs at Kingsley.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Classroom Floater and Support

  • Support the classroom learning during the regular school day
  • Assist with classroom coverage as needed throughout the school
  • Support with coverage during recess, lunch, P.E. class, and other occasions as needed
  • This support role would function between the hours of 9:30 - 5:30pm

After School Program Teacher

  • Develops lesson plans and activities, lead engaging hands-on lessons, in collaboration with the other After School Teachers.
  • Monitors student attendance of the programs by collecting attendance rosters, updating attendance database, and communicating attendance issues with the Toddler After School Program CoordinatorAuxiliary.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each student by creating a safe and engaging classroom.
  • Lead safe After School trips to local parks, and community spaces.
  • Observes all rules and regulations of Kingsley Montessori School.
  • Maintain overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines of the Kingsley Montessori School.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree required (Majors in the field of education preferred)
  • Teaching experience with children
  • Educators with a focus in Arts Education strongly encouraged to apply
  • Understanding of and commitment to multi-age learning environments
  • Experience with differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each child
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
  • Commitment to professional development and best practices in education
