Compass Oncology, the largest private practice cancer care center in the Pacific Northwest, is looking to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at their West Cancer Center located in Tigard, Oregon. This full-time position could be filled by either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant. The APP/Physician's Assistant will support our medical oncologists in seeing patients, educating patients on treatments, and other general support to maintain the high level of care our patients are accustomed to. While oncology experience is preferred, a heart of service and a desire to continue our mission will help you find success.

Salary Range: $83,932-$142,708.80

**Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate’s applicable experience and qualifications, as well as, internal employee equity considerations.

Nurse Practitioner Scope: Provides primary care in collaborative joint practice with the physicians to oncology patients. Scope of responsibility includes expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant, nurse researcher, and nurse leader. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Physician Assistant Scope: Under supervision of the physician, provides primary care in collaborative joint practice with the physicians to patients and/or family members in the hospital setting on a regular basis, and within the practice setting as requested by physicians. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities:

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
  • Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Promotes/provides staff education.
  • Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge tickets.
  • Provides case management for oncology clients and their families.
  • Serves as a resource person for the nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • May supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
  • May mentor new mid-level providers

Physician Assistant:

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current state certification of Nurse Practitioner.
  • BCLS
  • AOCN certification required.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum of (3) years of post MSN experience in oncology nursing, preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.

Physician Assistant:

Education:

  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • BCLS

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferred.
  • Previous experience in oncology preferred.
