I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:
Established in 1865, The George Washington University Law School is the oldest law school in Washington, DC. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools. The law school is located on the GW campus in the downtown neighborhood familiarly known as Foggy Bottom.


The Law School’s JD Admissions Office is seeking an Admissions Assistant who will be the first point of contact to interact with students, faculty, and visitors. This position reports to the Director of JD Admissions and will have the following responsibilities:


This position provides front-line customer service to candidates. The core responsibilities of this role are typically to answer routine and non-complex incoming inquiries over the phone, online, and in person, to process new applications and reviews for completeness, to maintain data in systems, to assist in the preparation for admissions events like admitted student events, law fairs, campus tours, maintain schedules, and provide general admissions support.
Additional duties include:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for both the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices at the Law School.
  • Assists with the processing of new applications and related student documents such as transcripts and letters of recommendation.
  • Responsible for maintaining recruitment calendar and shipment to fairs/forums.
  • Registers for law fairs, manages office calendars, and arranges appointments.
  • Manages incoming and outgoing mail; orders office supplies as needed.
  • Responds to routine items not requiring supervisor’s attention in accordance with specific instructions and standard procedure.
  • Sets up and maintains office files, records, and correspondence required for reference and efficient operation of the office.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.

The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
