Description
The Division of Agent Licensing oversees and facilitates every aspect of licensing for individuals and business entities engaged in insurance transactions. The division is responsible for ensuring that licensees comply with licensing laws and regulations, including the approval of continuing education and pre-licensing course of instruction.
Kentucky continues to modernize its licensing processes to ensure full reciprocity and uniformity that is consistent with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). The goal of the division is to process resident and nonresident applications in the most efficient manner, by encouraging applicants to utilize electronic applications through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), and the state’s eServices automated system.
We are looking for an Administrative Specialist III to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist III you will provide professional support to the branch by maintaining complex programs and activities regarding licensing of insurance entities. Perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for an Administrative Specialist III to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist III you will provide professional support to the branch by maintaining complex programs and activities regarding licensing of insurance entities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Processes complex resident insurance applications by verifying all statutory requirements. Follows up on outstanding application items and enter into the state database as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of complex statutory requirements and the NAIC producer data base information.
- Provides complex instructions and interacts with testers in a professional manner. Resolves testing problems, provide exam results and schedule exams when needed. Monitors and assists supervisor with tracking and resolving issues associated with off-site testing. Assists supervisor with projects as needed. Assists supervisor with research and recommends policies as it pertains to licensing.
- Answers email inquiries and incoming phone calls from the public explaining and interpreting complex licensing processes and departmental policies. Interprets complex insurance laws and regulations accurately and professionally, transferring calls to appropriate internal staff if unsure of answers.
- Assists other division staff when there is a backlog or employee absence, reviewing background reports from the Administrative Office of the Courts, and saving electronic documents to license record files.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
