Description
The Activity Therapist is responsible for providing high quality patient care, displaying good skills in assessment, treatment planning and group treatment. Additionally, he/she is responsible for functioning well as a member of the multidisciplinary team and participating in the unit community relations program.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in relevant field certified or certification eligible, in field (e.g. recreational therapy, music therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy), or Associate Degree with certification in Activity Therapy. Inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. CPR certified within one month of hire. Must have ability to adapt therapeutic activities to promotion of health lifestyle and the ability to adapt leisure and recreational skills to a patient’s crisis prevention/ resiliency plan. Basic knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment. Working knowledge and skills in maintaining therapeutic milieu. Skills in discharge planning a plus
