The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and leads the recreation therapy program, as well as direct patient care. He/she will be responsible for establishing, initiating and conducting the recreation therapy treatment program including leisure education, aerobics, creative expression, outdoor education, community reintegration and special events for patients. Recreation Therapist will be required to complete appropriate and assigned written materials, documents and forms to assist in patient documentation and communication in the department. Must be willing to treat all patients with respect and work as a team with staff/coworkers.

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CTRS certified or eligible to take the exam.

Recreation Therapy Assistant: High School diploma, bachelor's preferred AND 2+ years of relevant work experience. Experience must be working with activity therapist and/or recreational therapist in a hospital setting.

CPR, HWC and verbal de-escalation training necessary and may be provided upon hire at the hospital.
