Summary :
This Assistant position is responsible for patient access services to include pre-registration, central scheduling, and possibly some prior authorizations while providing a high level of customer service to patients and the community.
Responsibilities :
- Obtain all pertinent information for the creation and completion of patient's account
- Enter all pertinent data and insurance information into the computer accurately, following QA guidelines
- Schedule all outpatient appointments via Cerner accurately and professionally
- Answer incoming calls using proper telephone etiquette per organizational service excellence standards- providing customer service to patients, routing calls appropriately or taking messages
- Confirm upcoming patient appointments on a daily basis
- Act as a liaison to all departments and personnel
- Document in the patient's chart all appointments and any information received from the "referred to" providers office
- Check schedules at least 24 hours in advance to allow for changes/contacting patients
- Utilize continuing educations, seminars, professional publications, and hospital in services to remain current in profession
- Pre-register outpatient admission
- Perform job within allotted time frames, using safe behavior and utilization of appropriate resources
- Understand and follow individual, department and hospital responsibilities to meet corporate compliance obligations
- Participate in annual In- service education
- Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures
- Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate
- Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed
- Other duties as requested by Manager
