The A Center supports undecided/undeclared students, as well as Pre-Health professions and Pre-Law student services. In addition, this position assists in hosting and participating in special events such as the annual Meet Your Major, Pre-Health and Pre-Law Expos.

- Provide developmental advising, support for major exploration advising, and programs to meet the specific needs of the following student populations: first-year and continuing undergraduate students who are undecided (No Major Selected), pre-majors, students seeking alternative majors; students who have been academically excluded from competitive majors; and/or students who are on academic warning/probation or who have been academically ineligible from the University.
- Provide supplemental program planning and support for The A Center.
- Represents unit on university committees to initiate change and to resolve issues related to academic issues as a subject expert.
- Works with A Center Peer Mentor program – a group of student volunteers who help the department with retention initiatives.
- Works with Assistant Director on Success Path, a program designed to help students get back to academic eligible.
- Teach courses and facilitate related workshops and presentations.
- Collaborates with senior advisors on SERP 197P major exploration course.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated effective communication with diverse student populations.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills and proactive, open, and responsive interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with university personnel: faculty, college deans, administrators, and staff, as well as representatives from business and from the community.
- Skill in working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of student development theory.
- Knowledge of advising practices and principles.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and perform duties autonomously.
- Ability to work evening and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to work closely and effectively with multiple departments, organizations, and individuals in a complex environment.
- Proficiency with University of Arizona Student Information System (UAccess).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.
- Demonstrated successful experience working with post-secondary students.
- Two or more years of demonstrated and successful experience in teaching freshman level courses at a two-year college or four-year undergraduate college/university.
