Works cooperatively with staff members to develop and implement effective educational programs and to deliver appropriate services to students.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Columbus City Schools is seeking an Allied Health
Instructor. The applicant should have a background in Multi-Skilled Health (Medical Assisting,
Nurse Assisting, Health Informatics, Pharmacy Assisting or Phlebotomy)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • The Instructor of Allied Health is responsible for providing classroom instruction for Allied
Health courses within the Health Pathway.
  • Responsible for the delivery, planning and all aspects of the school's Allied Health program.
The program includes class instruction and the equally important, hands-on lab projects
  • Assist in the development of Health curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure
integration of academic and career technical education with 21st century skills
  • Take part in professional development activities designed to improve the teacher's knowledge for
the purpose of improving teaching and learning.
  • Explore and research best practices associated with the positive growth of the Health
Pathway
  • Monitor student overall academic progress regularly, not limited to interim/quarter
grades
  • Coordinate and help organize any special events/activities
  • Maintain current knowledge of district, state and federal laws, regulations and policies
affecting Allied Health education
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned


LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

Career-Technical or Alternative Resident Educator for Career-Technical Workforce Development:
Health Science

A district may hire an individual who has not completed a teacher preparation program to teach in
career-technical education.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated technical skills in the area of Allied Health. Meets the requirements for licensure

SPECIAL FACTORS:

The ideal candidate will prepare students for a career in professional dance and facilitate development in dance techniques that are internationally competitive in various styles of dance. Fort Hayes Career Center is a part of the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in the Columbus City School District. The program is uniquely designed to provide rigorous and focused workforce development. The ideal candidate will prepare the students to be competitive in the present and future job market. Each program instructor is expected to be current in technology, and innovations within the content area focus. Additionally, each instructor is expected to have a community advisory board, place students in internship opportunities with existing and potential community partners and collaborate with the team members in TBTs. Fort Hayes is an Arts Integrated High School/Career Center. The school is situated on a 77 acre campus and serves nearly 1800 students per day. The campus houses 10 buildings ranging from a Performing Arts theater to a Health Building. The mission of the school is to "create expectations of excellence through challenging and collaborative learning by blending the arts, academic and career programs."

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license issued by the Ohio Department of Education that grade level and subject matter for this specific position.
Proper endorsements as required.
