DESCRIPTION

The City of Shoreview is now hiring 2 -3 officials for our summer and fall soccer leagues for children. The Leagues focus on learning the basic skills, fundamentals, and the basic rules of soccer. The teams are coached by volunteers. Our program works to improve participant's skill level in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Scores are not kept for these games. Each team has one practice and one game per week. Games are played at various parks in Shoreview and neighboring cities. A staff shirt and whistle are provided.
Summer Leagues are for Grades 1 - 6. Summer games are played Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays evenings. Games last one hour and start at 6:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. each evening. The games begin mid-June through July. Work 1 - 4 evenings per week based on your availability and preference.
Fall Leagues are for Grades 1 - 6. Fall games are played play on Saturday mornings beginning mid-September through October. Games are scheduled to last one hour and start between 9:00 am, 10:15 am and 11:30 am.

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Officiate games as assigned using the modified rules established for the age group.
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to game time to check-in with the teams/coaches, and check the equipment and field.
  • Start games on time.
  • Tactfully communicate with players, coaches, and parents/spectators. Explain fouls and penalties to players.
  • Have the teams line up and shake hands at the end of the game.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Age 16 or older
  • General knowledge of soccer rules
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Previous officiating experience is desired
  • Prior playing experience preferred

Uniform: A referee jersey is provided.
Official's fee: $15 - $25 per game depending on certifications and officiating experience
