Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Carries out the Mission, Vision and Values established by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Participates in the overall agency Accreditation NAYEC and Quality Rated process.
- Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth, maintaining current knowledge of early childhood practice.
- Plan, supervise, and implement the program for the class in accordance with policies and philosophy of Scottdale Early Learning Center.
- Plan and implement appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, etc.
- Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, cultural needs, social intellectual and physical development of each child enrolled at the Center.
- Supervise upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in assigned area.
- Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom and its learning center.
- Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.
- Keeps necessary attendance records, up to date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed.
- Implements programs, which encourages parent involvement and development.
- Conduct parent conferences on each child’s classroom adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress.
- Work with parents to promote understanding of their child’s growth and development; encourage parent participation in school programs; attend parent group and Center functions; conduct conferences on request.
- Responsible for securing health, hygiene, safety, and overall well-being of children at all times and assist with toilet training as needed.
- Eat all meals with children and encourage development of sound nutritional practices.
- Treat children with dignity and respect.
- Strict compliance with universal precautions in the classroom or/and when administering first aid.
- Responsible for reporting any symptoms of child abuse and neglect, abnormal behaviors, injuries, illnesses to Supervisor and/or parents.

- Responsible to communicate with parents on child development issues, policies or other concerns related to their child.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information of staff and families.
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the Center at all times.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning of classroom, and changing of linens.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Dispensing of medication when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
