Summary/Objective
The William A Irvin Manager will work in collaboration with the Director of Property Maintenance and William A. Irvin to oversee all operations at the William A Irvin and the Minnesota Slip Bridge. Duties include but are not limited to scheduling, supervising, training, researching, overseeing daily operations, etc.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Museum Studies, Business Management, or related field.
  • Experience with historic attractions.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems.
  • 3 years of leadership/ supervisory experience.
  • 3 years of hospitality experience.

Essential Functions (Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.)

  • Interview, hire, manage, and train William A. Irvin and Minnesota Slip Bridge employees.
  • Manage employee’s timesheets, time off requests and schedules for the William A. Irvin and Minnesota Slip Bridge.
  • Comprehend, complete, and research preservation standards and compliance measures for historic structures.
  • Assist, research and strategize tour and program opportunities, apply methods to enhance the guest experience.
  • Oversee and manage the William A Irvin gift shop, including inventory, expenses, and revenue.
  • Continuously monitoring museum trends, attending educational events, and researching the Great Lakes shipping industry.
  • Assist, supervise and oversee logistics and operations for the Haunted Ship, William A. Irvin tours and the Minnesota Slip Bridge.
  • Ensure all point-of-sale processes, policies and procedures follow proper payment card standards.
  • Independently complete tasks related to the William A. Irvin and Minnesota Slip Bridge.
  • Act as backup to the Director of Property Maintenance and William A. Irvin in regard to tasks associated with this position.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Schedule

This position is full-time with a schedule based on the William A. Irvin operations. This position will have day, afternoon, and/or evening shifts scheduled on various days of the week and may include some holidays. Approximately 40 hours per week.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Position will be responsible for supervising the William A Irvin, Blue Bridge, and Haunted Ship employees. In addition, they will oversee volunteers. This includes hiring, terminations, training, managing timecards, and performance evaluations.

Work Environment
Work environment will be in an office setting and outdoors. Noise levels will vary from quiet to loud, temperatures will fluctuate from hot, cold, humid, etc.

Physical Demands
Position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time, moving quickly to different places based on needs. They will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, and speak often. This position will require bending, maneuvering, and the ability to move and lift to 40 pounds at times. This position will also need to be able to use stairs and ladders.

Uniform
Business Casual and dressed for essential work functions.

Travel Required
Occasionally

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.

This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time.
