Position Reports to: Director of Web Development & Operations

POSITION PURPOSE
Web Content Technician (WCT) will help to maintain the rm.edu website and other RMU web properties. The WCT is responsible for managing website content requests and performing various website content updates. Focused time management, excellent customer service, and a problem-solving mindset as well as the ability to prioritize, are all keys to success in this position. The nature of the position also requires an ability to communicate clearly on a variety of different levels, both with internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adding, creating, and maintaining content information in a WordPress, or other content management system (CMS), in collaboration with web developers.
- Accurate and timely logging of support desk tickets (often in Jira).
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure content is updated in a timely manner with a high level of accuracy.
- Critically evaluating content updates and ensuring quality control of changes.
- Reviewing web content, links, and design, providing necessary updates for broken links and updated content and enhancements as necessary all while adhering to mobile compliance standards.
- Liaising between the website designers and project management staff for required updates.
- Assess effectiveness of the site and discuss usability issues internally with the Web Development team.
- Offering site recommendations or improvements to the internal team.
- Drafting, documenting, and implementing processes and procedures of content administration and management.
- Adhere to the RMU Brand Style Guide and RMU Web Style Guide principles.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS
Education/Certification:
B.S. or B.A., or currently seeking a degree in Web Development, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related field of study.
Experience Required
Minimum of 1 year of proven website content management experience, preferably having worked in a WordPress CMS.- Experience using an advanced page builder in WordPress (e.g. Elementor, Beaver Builder, Divi, etc.)
- Experience with HTML5 & CSS3
Skills/Abilities
Strong HTML & CSS skills- Understand and apply basic SEO principles to web content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A team player approach with a demonstrated ability to collaborate internally with developers and project managers and externally with clients.
- Strong writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Continued education and research into Web trends and current technologies
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to document best practices and coding standards, and to offer constructive critique with proposed recommendations for changes, when necessary.
