Job Description
W Radio is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and educated bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking journalist based in Washington D.C The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily coverage of the most relevant news in the city, including but not limited to politics, economics, entertainment and breaking news.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Research and report on compelling daily news, features and in-depth stories for our morning radio show.

• Cover breaking news with urgency and accuracy.

• Special attention to all Colombia related news and events in Wasington D.C

• Strict monitoring of Criminal Cases of Colombians in Washington D.C

• Produce, write and edit special reports when assigned.

• Must be able to carry interviews with guests during live radio show.

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays. The schedule of our daily show is from 6 am to 1 pm EST, weekdays. (Changes with Daylight Savings)

•Availability to travel when required as a permanent correspondent, both locally in the United States and abroad.

• Propose and produce on a daily basis personalities to interview in our radio show.

• Prepare a document with background information about interviewee prior to scheduled interview.

• Research and petition credentials for important events in the city.

• Maintain and update agenda with contacts attained.

• Other duties and projects as determined by the Chief International Editor and the US Editor

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS/BA or MA in Communications, Journalism, or related fields.

• 5+ years of experience as a journalist in Spanish language broadcasting

• Must communicate clearly, concisely and in a compelling manner

• Should have strong story-telling skills and ability to handle simultaneous tasks, while working well in a fast-paced environment.

• Must live in Washington D.C and be willing to work from home.

• Must be bilingual in Spanish and English with excellent verbal and written communications skills

• Employment/education will be verified

• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
