Primary Responsibilities of the VP of Marketing:
This role reports directly to the CEO. You will develop and own a comprehensive customer acquisition and retention strategy across audiences and channels. You will be responsible for building and executing a performance-based growth marketing plan, including overseeing the media budget. You will lead a team of 4 direct reports plus agencies. You'll also be responsible for instrumenting and reporting against everything in your scope to measure and act on experiments and track progress against financial and customer goals. You will partner closely with the merchandise, CRO, design/photoshoot and leadership team.
We're looking for a seasoned digital marketer for this role - someone who has experience with D2C e-commerce marketing, particularly in apparel or a similar retail industry. You are knowledgeable in both strategy and execution across diverse paid and organic channels, including paid social, organic social, email, SMS, paid search, SEO, as well as non-traditional top-of-funnel marketing. The ideal candidate will be data-obsessed and relentless in finding the right answers to challenging marketing questions. They will also be a team-builder, capable of growing existing team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive customer acquisition and retention strategies across audiences and channels, with a focus on performance-based growth marketing.
- Lead a team of 4 direct reports and external partners to execute marketing plans.
- Optimize media budget based on profitability and LTV, driving efficiency in new customer acquisition and customer development.
- Oversee primary channels including Paid & Organic Social (FB/IG/Tiktok/Snapchat), Paid Search (Google Adwords), Email / SMS, Influencer (IG, TikTok, YouTube), Affiliate networks (Pepperjam), and SEO.
- Develop and manage the execution of A/B testing optimization strategies across all channels, from ad assets to targeting and media tactics.
- Continuously evaluate emerging media strategies to identify growth opportunities and rebalance channel allocations.
- Collaborate with the creative content team and develops strategies to maintain a seamless brand voice and messaging.
- Develop, train, and motivate the team.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of media trends, competitive landscape, and customer acquisition KPIs.
- This position is remote, but must be able to meet at the office quarterly.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience.
- Director or higher position in digital marketing for e-commerce DTC brand with at least $40m+ revenue.
- Experience managing a multi-channel budget of over $3m annually.
- Highly analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making within an imperfect or incomplete information environment.
- Can combine these deep analytical skills with consumer empathy to ensure we are always delivering delightful, customer-centric experiences.
- Proven track record of operator development and passion for building high-output, cross-functional teams.
- Have an entrepreneurial spirit and are excited by the challenges that come along with building a disruptive business.
- Strong technical acumen and hands-on experience with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Optimize, Shopify, etc.
- The ability to manage FB / Tiktok ads yourself is a plus.
Preferred Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 9 am - 6 pm PST
Salary and Benefits:
- Total Compensation Range: $175,000 - $295,000
- Compensation may be adjusted based on qualifications, experience, and location.
